Cat Skiing in Revelstoke   Operators, Terrain, and Worth It?

Hey everyone   I’m planning a trip to Revelstoke, BC this winter and I’m seriously considering booking a cat skiing day or multi-day trip while I’m there. I’ve skied the resort before (amazing vertical, deep snow), but I keep hearing that the backcountry cat skiing around Revy is next-level and way less crowded.

Why I’m Interested

  • I want to avoid resort crowds and get into deep, untracked powder.

  • Heli is $$$ and weather-dependent — cats are cheaper and more reliable.

  • Looking for a mix of tree skiing, alpine bowls, and possibly steep lines.

Cat Skiing Operators Near Revelstoke

So far, I’ve found a few options in the area:

  • Great Northern Snowcat Skiing — One of the OGs in the cat skiing world. Located about 1.5 hrs from Revy. Lots of glades and steep tree runs.
  • K3 Cat Ski — Closer to town, known for varied terrain and good for strong intermediates to advanced riders.
  • Cat Powder — Mustang Powder  Higher-end lodge experience, more remote, but supposed to be unreal for deep snow and steep terrain.
  • Trophy Mountain Cat Skiing — Further out, near Blue River, but some folks combine this with a Revy trip.

Has anyone ridden with any of these? What’s the terrain like, and how do they compare in terms of group size, snow quality, and guide experience?

What to Expect?

From what I’ve read:

Most operators run with groups of 12 or fewer.

Avy gear is provided and you’ll get a safety briefing before the day starts.

You’ll ride a snowcat up into remote terrain, then ski/ride down untouched lines.

Lunch and transport are usually included, but overnight options vary.

Why Revelstoke?

The snow is ridiculous — Revy gets 10–15 meters per season. Combine that with steep terrain, glades, and a laid-back town vibe, and it’s basically paradise for powder lovers. I figure cat skiing is a way to take it up a notch and skip the lift lines entirely.

Anyone Here Tried It?
